If you have been living under a rock, you may not know who Mike Matei is. Cinemassacre is the home of James ”The Angry Video Game Nerd” Rolfe and his friend, Mike Matei. An album based from the movie was released in 2014 composed by Bear McCreary, who had previously worked with Rolfe on the webseries Christmas special. Mike: Making videos is a ton of fun. While Mike's solo videos began to appear long before production began for the Angry Video Game Nerd Movie, Mike's contributions helped fill the void during James' many absences during the film's production and satisfy hungry fans.

The series centers on Rolfe's character "The Nerd", a short-tempered and foul-mouthed video game fanatic who delivers commentary and sketches on retro games he considers to be of poor quality. The film follows Rolfe's signature Nerd” character as he reluctantly sets out to review E.T.” for the Atari 2600, widely regarded as the worst video game ever made.

The French show Joueur du Grenier was based on Angry Video Game Nerd. However, contributor Mike Matei showed SEGA some love by way of a Game Gear video review. This feud appeared to be short lived or as some sort of ploy, as in a video Mike released a week after this drama involving some NES hacks , Joueur du Grenier makes a very short cameo in it.

The AVGN reviews Silver Surfer (NES). So in total you have 1 + 34 + 34 = max of only 25 unique colors on screen at a time (without any code magic voodoo)… for each entry you can pick one of the unique 52 colors from the video generator, this is known today as the NES Palette.

Matei was also the one who encouraged Rolfe to upload the first AVGN videos to YouTube , since at the time he only wanted to make a trilogy of them. Instead, Matei started his own spin-off series called "Mike's Game Glitches", where he showed the audience how to perform glitches and tricks in video games.

There are a few videos where Mike Matei does a game review with Inspector Gadget, his most notable collaboration is "Minecraft with Gadget", where Gadget pokes fun at the series repeatedly Mike Matei by calling the game "Mineycrafty" and "Minecrap", and saying that hes having a lot of fun building "brown bricks" in the game.

WatchMojo also called the Nerd as a "trendsetter" for other gamers and amateur reviewers online, influencing the likes of those such as the Nostalgia Critic, Angry Joe and others. He used to be just the dude who played opposite of James Rolffe on almost every video he did, from Board James to the Angry Video Game Nerd videos. I know you are not into emulators, but I would love your take on the BS Zelda games sometime. I loved these games.
